On your device. Cairn has no server of its own and no account, so we can't see or recover your thoughts. The only things Cairn sends are anonymous crash reports and usage counts (through Firebase), to fix bugs — never what you write, say or photograph. See the Privacy Policy (Android) · Privacy Policy (iPhone & iPad) for the details.
On iPhone and iPad, backup to your own iCloud Drive is free and encrypted. On Android, Cairn+ backs up automatically to your own Google Drive. Either way, open More → Backup. On either platform, and for free, you can also use More → Export a copy to save an encrypted file you keep yourself.
Install Cairn on the new phone (on Android this needs Cairn+), open More → Backup and choose Restore. Restoring merges: anything newer already on the phone is kept. With an exported file, choose Bring back a saved copy under More → Export a copy.
On iPhone and iPad, Cairn+ is a one-time purchase, so there is nothing to cancel. On Android: Google Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops renewal; Cairn+ stays on until the end of the paid period. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google.
Open the Cairn+ screen and tap Restore, making sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account or Google account you bought it with.
